BIOGRAPHY

1926   Born in France, Les Sables d'Olonnes.

1931   First sees the Mystic Lamb's poiyptic of the brothers Van Eyck in Gent. This awakens her désire to become a painter.

1935   Sees the drawings of Ingres and Delacroix. First search for line.

1937   Copies the works of Raphaël, Vinci, Rubens and Ingres and tries portraits of friends and relatives.

1942   Studies in a free art class following a visit to L. Buisseret. First contact with artistic life.

1943-1947     Studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels.

1948   Studies at the National High Intitute of Fine Arts in Antwerp. Beginning of the friendship with Jan and Yvonne Cox which will last until 1980.

1949   Thanks to a French Government scholarship studies at the School of Decorative Arts in Paris with the professor Marcel Gromaire.

1950   Meets the painter Morris Graves while staying in Chartres.

1951   Leaves for Canada and establishes herself in Vancouver B.C. Teaches at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and at the Banff School of Fine Arts, University of Alberta during 19 years.

1962   Establishes herself in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Regular contacts with the members and lecturing guests of the Art Institute of Chicago and the musical circle of the city, S. Stravinsky, E. Hoffmann and P. Stassievitch.

1970   Establishes herself in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Realizes numerous portraits of universities' and scientific personalities of the East Coast of the United States. Continuing passion for Gertrude Stein's œuvre.

1975   Lives partially in Philadelphia and in Brussels, Belgium.

1989   Meets the painter Frédéric Hage who will become her student in Brussels.

2009   She passed on December 4, 2009 in Philadelphia.
